Sado Profile(Eng)
Aims and Objectives Of the Organisation:
SADO, Somali Aid Development Organisation was established 13-04-2006, by a group of intellectuals who are originated from Somalia who live in Nederland. SADO is non profit and non governmental organisation.
SADO wants to do humanitarian development activities in Somalia, particularly the Benadir, Middle Shabele and Galgaduud regions. The reason we selected these regions is that even when Somalia had a central government, the above mentioned regions were neglected by the government. A good example is that there was no a good road where all cars can travel from Mogadishu (Benadir Region) to Galgaduud region, that was the time when we had an effective government, and the situation became worse for the last 15 years when there was civil war in Somalia and upto now the situation is the same or even worse than before. Only the four wheel drivers can travel from Mogadisho to Galgadud region.
On the education side was also neglected and there were few schools before 15 years, and those schools do not exist now because there is no government which is helping them. Our aim is to reach the remote areas and eliminate the illiteracy from its roots. According to last estimation only 10% of Somali children go to schools and literacy is 17% which is one of the lowest in the world.
On the healthy issue there are no enough hospitals in the above mentioned regions sometimes on has to travel hours to reach the nearest hospital. Our aim in this regard is to build hospitals and mother and child care M.C.H. and save human lives.
On the drinking water issue more places have no wells, and one has to travel for hours to reach the nearest wells. If the land does not receive enough rain, the wells become dry and then there is drought. Our aim in this regard is every single human being has a right to a clean water and we will do whatever we can to provide them a clean water.
On protection of sea and sea animals, there are foreign companies which throw nuclear waste on the sea, and this endangers both the animals and the people who consume the sea food. SADO will try to minimise this danger with the help of the International community.
To function as an advisory organ between local, international and donor organization.
SADO encourages that intellectual Diaspora community to go back to Somalia to participate the reconstruction of Somalia. It also urges donor countries and aid organizations to facilitate intellectual Diaspora community to go back to Somalia. SADO welcomes development programs either from individuals, countries or group of investors to setup productive projects in Somalia. This will create jobs and improve the likelihood of the Somali society.
Poverty alleviation through small-scale food production programs which will lead access to food for every body.
SADO will not discriminate anybody because of sex, religion , race, tribe and clan.
SADO is totally against female genital mutilation, which is widely used in Somalia and it will take all the necessary steps such as informing the people the dangers of genital mutilation.
SADO condemns terrorism all over the world, and it is against all forms of terrorism and will cooperate the International community in this regard.
On the political issue SADO will inform the Somali people their rights in the political process in the country and will advise them how they can participate democratically.
Principles of operation:
The most important part of SADO activity is oriented to the field of education in order to contribute solving the problem of children without schools in Somalia. We will also work in the health, fisheries digging wells and other development projects which are necessary for the development of the human being.
Projects:
Our projects are basically primary education in this first phase of the organization. Apart from running the schools our projects are mainly building classrooms to accommodate the high number of unschooled children. We will give our highest priority to education because we believe without education the human being can not make progress. Our task is included building hospitals, MCH Mother and child care, digging wells, irrigation, giving food to displaced people, fisheries and eliminating poverty.
Project implementation:
Any project we carry out has mainly two phases: -
Planning: includes setting up project proposal and fund raising. Implementation and missions: once sufficient fund is found, the project is implemented. If it is necessary, a mission is sent to the site prior to project implementation. Project follow-up, progress report writing and financial statement are all integral part of project implementation.
Staff:
A managing board chaired by Dr: Abdi Mohamed Ahmed governs SADO. It is staffed with intellectuals with different educational background. We have a local staff in the field. It is them who carry out the projects in the field. Based on the suggestions of the local staff, the board devices the policy and the road map of SADO activities either implementation or planning.
